Dogs & Co famous Figure of 8 Dog Lead, as recommended by behaviourists around the country. Made from strong, nylon with chrome fittings. The dog lead is padded for both the walkers and dogs comfort. The overall length and width of the dog lead is L: 1.5m / 59” W: 2cm / 7/8”.

The dog lead has three different modes, a fixed collar & lead, a slip lead and a halter (over the nose), all are easy to adjust and use.

Fixed collar and lead (fig 1) - For use when the dog is calm and well behaved, and no extra correction is needed.

Slip Collar (fig 2) - When the dog is pulling, the slip lead mode will help to ‘check’ the dog. Can be used a full slip (choke) lead or as ‘Half Check’ where the walker sets the limit of the ‘slip’ by moving the buckle along the length of the lead.

Halter (fig 3) - When out with a lot of ‘distractions’ and the dog is causing the walker stress. When the dog pulls, the dog lead will tighten across the nose, pulling the dogs head downwards into a naturally submissive position, calming the dog. This dog lead does not pull the head to the side (distraction method) or ‘travel’ up the nose potentially into the dogs eye. If the dog has never had a halter style dog lead on before, he may ‘fight’ against the strange sensation. It is worth persevering for a while until the dog calms and accepts the new control situation. If your dog does not settle, try the ‘slip’ mode and start again.

By simply movement of the lead through the ‘8’ shaped buckle alters the mode of use. A guide to use of the Figure of 8 dog lead is sent with each purchase.

Colour coding has been used to aid with the use of the Figure of 8 dog lead.

Position the figure of 8 buckle to a comfortable fit. The buckle prevents the ‘collar’ from tightening and the stopper prevents the ‘collar’ from opening.

Simply move the buckle along the length of the lead to adjust the ‘collar’ size.

Move the buckle around to the end with the chrome ring, the lead is now a slip lead, use the buckle to adjust the amount of ‘slip’. Move the stopper down towards the neck to prevent the lead from opening too wide.

Pull a length of lead through the actual Figure of 8 buckle itself to form two loops (as shown in the picture on the right). Place the lead over the dogs head - the stopper positioned at the back of the head. The other loop is placed up over the dog’s nose, pull the lead to a comfortable position for the dog. Move the stopper down towards the neck to prevent the loop from opening.
